Cars are a very good transportation option in North Omaha. The majority of properties for sale are a reasonably short drive from the nearest highway, such as Interstate 680, and finding a parking spot is generally easy. Many of the houses for sale in this community are located in areas that are not particularly suitable for walking because few common errands can be run without having to resort to a vehicle.
The nearest grocery store in this area is typically only a reasonably short walk away. A small number of restaurants and cafes can be found as well. Concerning education, residents will appreciate that wherever their property is located in this part of the city, both primary and secondary schools are nearby. Residents benefit from public and private schools at both the elementary and high school level.
The character of North Omaha is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. There are around 30 public green spaces close by for residents to visit, like Twenty-Eighth and Craig Park and Gallagher Park, and they are very well-spread out, which makes it easy to get to them. This community is also quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor - although there are still several noisier sections, especially closer to Interstate 680, North Freeway or the railway line.
The split between renters and homeowners is about even. The substantial proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of this part of the city is an important part of its character. This area experienced its largest building boom prior to the 1960s, so most of the available housing is from this time period. This community has a good selection of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
